Monday Morning Blues – à Paris

It’s Monday Morning à Paris.

“Panic” is the word to describe our mood.

Since, unfortunately, all our usual haunts, especially our “café local”, are firmly closed on Monday – every Monday – we’re desperate for our morning “café express” and golden croissant.

Frustration is rife…

Deciding to climb up to “Trocadéro” in search of our un-negotiable morning delight, we come across the “Place de Mexico”, which is “juste en face” of the Tour Eiffel.  There we stumble on this little, tiny, adorable café, with its beige straw chairs and round tables, literally inviting us to sit on them…

Ordering our “express” from the “garçon”, we are told there were no croissants left.

PANIQUE…

With a huff and a puff, we hurriedly crossed over to the Galerie Saint-Didier, where we got two fresh, golden “darlings” from the famous boulangerie “Paul”.

Rushed back to our charming café, ordered two hot expresso’s and blissfully devoured our booty – the two croissants – while reading our usual collection of “journaux”, including Le Figaro and the International Herald Tribune.

Bliss…

We were further overjoyed not only by the warm sun and blue skies, but also by the burst of spring flowers, strewn all over the pavement by the florist, opposite our little café – the pink roses, petunias, etc. were so gorgeous, as well as the white ones, especially the little pots of Jasmine, with their heavenly scent (one of our favourite flowers), as well as the beautiful Gardenia, among many other varieties of the bounty of nature.

“Enfin” – we’ve solved our problem of the Monday Morning blues.

For, we’ve discovered this charming little café, “juste en face” the lovely florist – for us to enjoy our blissful Monday morning ritual at the Place de Mexico.

Voilà…
