The Queen’s… Diamond Jubilee…

The… Queen’s…

Sixty… glorious years…??

True…

She… has been…

“An island of stability in a sea of change”…

“An extraordinary reign by an ordinary woman… the Queen”…

Her integrity… resilience… endurance…

Devotion… to serving her county…

Is… remarkable.

However…

Watching the Diamond Jubilee… with the Queen and other members of the Royal Family aboard the “Gloriana”… sailing down the Thames among many other boats… one couldn’t help but feel…

Sad… regretful…

For an era… that has long past…

The… Power…

The… Glory…

That was… “England”… is no more…

The Royal ceremony… was merely a spectacle…

A charade… a touristic venture…

It does her… no favours…

It diminishes… the Queen…

The… Monarchy.

The rain never stopped pouring on the some… “trying too hard”… members of the Royal Family…

Who… got soaked and bothered…

Especially Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall… whose hats unfortunately are getting larger and larger… resembling a “flotilla”…

Unflattering…

Did not… impress…

Isn’t it infantile for the British public… to be so dependent on their ageing Monarch…?

It’s as if they cannot exist… without their Queen… their Monarchy…

She is infinitely  glorified… excessively praised…

To the extent of almost… making her into a “deity”…

It’s a near…

Obsession…

An addiction…

However…

May… Her Majesty the Queen… long reign over England…

Was today’s… Diamond Jubilee pageant…

Triumphant…?

Spectacular…?

Unfortunately… NOT…

The whole display… was needlessly…

Extravagant…

Over… the top…

Soggy…

Wet…

Frankly… my dear…

“It’s… a…

Bore”…

a.

Yup, overdone and somewhat creaky, (and frankly Camilla should forgo hats altogether and invest in a veil).  However, I suspect that the Union Jack and the monarchy are all wrapped into one unusual package for most of the Brits.  If the majority really wanted to dispence with the monarchy (while preserving the flag of course), they could make it happen.  A little pomp and circustance can be quite reassuring.  Lynn
