2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony… Underwhelming…

Exhausting…

Overwhelming…

Unimpressed…

Was what came to mind… watching the much-awaited and much-hyped…

2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony

“BLAST -OFF! As billions watch, London’s 2012 Olympic spectacular explodes into life“… read one headline…

Getting off to a Flyer“… said another…

Well… it was more like a huge spaceship landing from the sky… when cascading flames lit up the five Olympic rings…

In fact… the Opening Ceremony was… extravagant… over-the-top… losing track of what the real “esprit” of competitive sport is all about… it was frankly…

Paroxysmally… busy…

Disappointingly… chaotic…

The grim opening scenes of the “dark satanic mills”… Kenneth Branagh reciting Shakespeare… the symbolic Industrial Revolution… the National Health Service celebratory scenes which were laboriously long… not to mention the silly dangling Mary Poppins… the unnecessary huge looming black evil wizard from Harry Potter…

Were in no way… reminiscent of the magnificent spirit of the… Olympian games…

Most unacceptable was the “commercialisation” of…

Her Majesty… The Queen…

James Bond landing in her presence (with her much-loved Corgis) at Buckingham Palace was surprising enough… however her accompanying and taking a jump with Bond from his helicopter…

Was truly… in bad taste…

Demeaning…

A dignified Queen… is by far more effective and empowering… for England…

What has happened to… World War II Britain…??

Understated…

Cool headed… dignified…

Universally admired… and respected…

The final straw was Sir Paul McCartney… Yet again singing his heart out… desperately and “heroically” trying to be heard… While the lovely David Beckham sailing down… “James Bond-style”… the Thames… (The heart did not flutter… he’s no Sean Connery)… Both valiantly struggling… to resuscitate a noisy shambolic conundrum…

It is truly a matter of…

“Round up the usual suspects”…

Less… is so much more…

London

Enough… “bling”…

Be… cool…
