ALAÏA... at the Palais Galliera...A L A Ï A

Exhibition…

His first… Paris retrospective…

Presented…

At the… magnificent…

Of… the…

Newly… reopened…

Palais Galliera

Le Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris

And the Salle Matisse… of the…

Musée dArt Moderne de la Ville de Paris

Is… honouring…

The French-Tunisian couturier… by presenting a selection of seventy iconic models…

Retracing a brilliant… uniquely seductive creative career…

I too… fell under his spell along with his legion of adoring legendary fans… such as Louise de VilmorinMarie-Hélène de RothschildGreta Garbo… as well as recent faithful admirers… Carla BruniFarida Khelfa… and Naomi Campell

At the opening of the Alaïa exhibition...When I became the proud owner… of an exquisite body sculpted black jersey dress… that fitted my shape to perfection…

The great designer commented…

The success of a dress depends on its ability to dissapear..
focusing all eyes on the women wearing it
“…

AzzedineAlaïa

Is not a… couturier…

He is a… sculptor

Working with leather… he adopted an approach that made it more “fragile… more sensual“…  He draped his models with jersey and stretch fabrics… just like Michelangelo molded his clay into a divine sculpture…

Visiting the visually stunning Alaïa creations… one is stunned by the perfection and sophistication of his “complex cuts”… that are veiled in mystery “beneath a veneer of simplicity”…

Which is truly… breathtaking…

A woman is like an actress, always on stage. She has to be beautiful and feel good. Her clothes should be a part of her, she should feel them on her body. I prefer people to notice the woman and not her clothes, her face, her body, her hands. The clothes she wears should dress her, underscore her qualities, and make her beautiful.”

Wearing Alaïa… is…

A… celebration…

Alaïa...A… liberation…

Of body… and soul…

Azzedine Alaïa

Fashion designer… par excellence

A legendary… “sculpteur“…

His creations… are…

Sensuous… seductive…

Mysterious…

J’adore“…
