"Et Dieu Crea... Saint-Tropez"... | Côte D'Azur Travel Series...

Painting of St. Tropez by Nicole White Kennedy...

"La Côte"...

Is our... second home...

We're familiar... with every "nook and cranny"... every curve and turn... every precipice... even dangerous ones... like that of "La Turbie"...

We adore... " La Côte d'Azur"...

The dazzling coastline from... Cannes to Monaco...

But our true "love affair"... has always been with...

Saint-Tropez...

A passageway in Saint-Tropez...."Le petit village"...

The small village...

Of pink and peach... with touches of azuré-blue... lilac... with charming doors of midnight blue and green...

Cobbled winding alleyways... with Bougainvillea clinging to old rustic walls...

Dangling and spilling... onto the pathways...

Gliding up to the top of the hill... one is enchanted by the tiny boutiques filled with handwoven "Artisanat Tropézien" "... local crafts...  baskets of straw in all shapes and trimmings... jewellery shops with stones of Amythist... Tourmaline... Turquoise... and Coral of the sea...

Galleries displaying paintings on canvas and sketches of Saint-Tropez... with boats bobbing in the harbour...

Myriad local restaurants... brasseries... cafés... as well as the cornucopia of multi-cultural cuisines... Thai... Japanese... Moroccan... "Chinois"...

The view from the top overlooking the bay... is a dream...

How can so much beauty... exist in...

"Un petit village"...

A tiny village...

Meandering past the "Citadelle"... we come across an awesome "cimetière marin"... dating back to 1791... where all the known and famous are...

Continuing further down the lane on the left... we stumble upon a...

Niche... of a beach...

A... little gem...

White umbrellas... like a cluster of white doves... sit shading the "chaise longue" below them...

While the "patronne"... a large ample woman of great character and a lust for life is surveying all... her loyal staff... her chefs... their cuisine but most of all... her besotted clientèle...

For once one sets eyes upon this most fascinating cove it becomes...

Indelible...

Walls of pink.. peach.. and windows of blue...Unforgettable...

Climbing back up the hill and down to the Port of Saint-Tropez... one is overwhelmed with the amazing  concoction of people milling around... sipping cafés or lazing languidly on their handsome yachts moored in "le port de Saint-Tropez"...

After drinking the refreshing waters of Perrier... at the now iconic Sénéquier...

We stroll down to the corner of the "quai"... where we indulge in an ice cream cone of "trois parfums"... from the legendary Barbarac...

Slurping and licking... the meltingly gooey delicious stuff...

So much heaven... in a cone of ice cream...

Having fulfilled most of our senses... we retired to the ubiquitous Hotel Sube... our very own favourite place to be... at "6h30 le soir"... in Saint-Tropez...

With a cool cool drink on the terrace of atmosphere and magic... watching the sun set behind the peach-pink horizon...

With the awesome yachts... majestically moored...

We raise our glasses... in praise of all that is...

Le Var Matin... the local newspaper of Saint-Tropez...."L'esprit"...

Of this... jewel of a place...

This... "village"...

Muttering...

"Et dieu... crea...

Saint-Tropez"...
