Recently… to my utter delight…. Anthony has been hosting “Anthony Bourdain… Parts Unknown“… for CNN…
Anthony Michael Bourdain… born June 25th, 1956 in New York City…. his paternal grandparents were French… his mother worked as an editor for the New York Times…
He graduated from The Culinary Institute of America in 1978…
His affection for food came to light in France… where he ate his first oyster in a fisherman’s boat as a young boy…

His popularity gained momentum… with “Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly“… the “witty and rumbustious exposé”… of the darker shades of culinary experiences… and a memoir of his professional life… and later the best-selling “A Cook’s Tour“… to mention some of his many famous publications…
He also hosted an extremely successful TV show “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations“… where he was nominated for an Emmy award… for an episode in Beirut during the Israeli 2006 war… He also received Emmy awards for reporting in Haiti and Laos…among many others…

To becoming Executive Chef at New York’s “Brasserie Les Halles“… he became an unrepentant unapologetic drinker, drug-dabbler; and smoker… but thankfully has recently stopped…
Devastatingly handsome… when young… he has recently grown a paunch and gone grey…
I find him… irresistible…
Disturbingly… honest…
Refreshingly… unaffected…
I completely agree with his irritation with celebrity chefs… and disgust for “over-commercialism of the celebrity cooking industry and it’s lack of culinary authenticity”… as well as his disdain for food super-stars like Alain Richman… Alain Ducasse… (whose disappointing cuisine I sampled… when dining at the Hotel de Paris in Monaco and at his restaurant Spoon at the Hotel Byblos in St. Tropez… which was overrated… overpriced… Did not impress)…
I also whole heartedly agree with his praise and admiration for Ferran Adrià of El Bulli fame … Mario Bartoli and Marco Pierre-White… whose cuisine impressed in London…
Travelling with Anthony… to “Parts Unknown“… via CNN…
I am transported to strangely exotic places… exciting territories… where we watch him eating speciality dishes with the locals…
Bourdain has indulged in eating sheep testicles in Morocco…. ant eggs in Puebla, Mexico… as well as a cobra… among other unmentionable dishes…
Alongside the exquisitely memorable… delicious ones…
