The Queen’s Banquet in Honour of President Obama
Her majesty, Queen Elizabeth does it – so well…
Hosting President Barack Obama and his impressive and lovely wife Michelle, with the charismatic and irreplaceable Prince Philip by her side, at the dazzlingly sumptuous state banquet at Buckingham Palace, we were yet again reminded of her amazing stature, her enduring presence, and unshakeable responsibility.
No one does “Pomp and Ceremony” “bettah” – than the British…
America is the most powerful country in the world, but the Obamas seemed more than impressed with the majesty of the “old world”, of British heritage, and the majestic power of Royalty…
From the perfectly aligned Queen’s Guard, to Buckingham Palace, the legendary Oxford (the oldest university in the English speaking world), to the Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament… all that and more – impressed and delighted.
The warmth between the hosts and their visitors was palpable and obvious.
It is special.
A fond relationship.
The Queen and Prince Philip seem to appreciate and enormously admire the brilliance and hard work of the Obamas – they have a special soft spot for the younger couple, who rose from obscurity to high office – the most powerful in the world – by sheer hard work, determination, and discipline…
A soaring of spirit, a generosity of heart and an enlightenment – beyond their years, and yes, even beyond the office they hold.
Not to forget the harmony and bonhomie we witnessed when the Obamas met the newly married Prince William and Catherine (whom Michelle generously hailed as the First Lady of Style), or is it the future King and Queen of England…..??
The President and the Queen…
Both are unique…
The Queen, for her unwavering duty and diligence, unshakeable loyalty to her subjects – to her beloved – England…
The President for his resolve, unwavering loyalty to duty and service to his great nation, the United States of America, and the wider world.
Obama is a master of oratory… brilliant at strategy.
He is genuine.
He is understated.
Obama and her Majesty are both natural and comfortable in their “own skin”.
They do not try to impress.
They are at ease.
People who come face to face with them know they are in front of… greatness.
Hail to the Commander in Chief.
Long live the Queen of England.
Quoting William Shakespeare in King Richard II,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.
Your Majesty…
President Obama…
We salute you.
