Grazie – Our Irresistable Pizzeria à Paris

Oh… by the way, you must… must… visit “Grazie”…

The “Grazie” bar and restaurant is next door to “Merci” – (see previous post) – if you’re as passionate about Pizza as we are.

One of our favourite pizza haunts for years was the legendary “John’s Pizzeria of Bleecker Street”, Greenwich Village in New York City, where the pizzas were deliciously outstanding, as well as their meltingly excellent “Calzoni”.

In London, one of our favourites was at “La Pizzeria”, next to the “Here” organic supermarket in Chelsea Farmer’s Market, off the King’s Road.

These pizza’s had the lightest, thinnest of crusts, with myriad toppings – we especially loved the one with fresh rocket – memorable.

But, the best… best… bestest… pizza – à Paris – we recently discovered at the newly opened (two months ago) bar and restaurant, Grazie…

Its special – darkly exciting, with huge abstract canvasses hanging on the walls.

We simply adored the “al forno” oven area, where pizzas are baked “au feu du bois” – the soft lights twinkling above it were enchanting…

The handsomely stocked bar, with its multi-national tequilas, vodkas, spirits, cognacs, was most inviting, while the lounge music gave the place a lovely ambience…

The dark columns are an impressive and powerful feature of the place…

Also… the dark black old trunks studded with metal pins, surrounded by aged old leather “fauteuils”, gave the place a cosy feel.

“Juste en face” the tall glass windows, couples and groups of friends were enjoying their drinks while “people-watching” and chatting away – a lazy Saturday afternoon.

We ordered the truly excellent pizzas…

One of our favourites was the “piquant, piquant, piquant”, with “en plus” the hot red peppers marinated in oil, which we drizzled – with a squeal of delight – over our sizzling hot pizzas – Mmm… Yum…

We bit into this delicacy, while savouring our Italian red wine…

We were sure that this is an establishment we will be visiting quite regularly – actually often… very often…

We can never, ever, resist a superb pizza…
