Watching this unprepossessing woman regularly on one of the many French and international channels… the short pleasantly plump woman… cuts an ordinary figure… more like a German “hausfrau“… than a powerful European leader…
Unlike Thatcher… who exuded the power of an “Iron Lady”… Merkel does not exude an aura of power nor is she charismatic… neither a brilliant orator like Obama…
But…
“Still waters… run deep”…
Maybe… dangerously so…
“In the European power stakes no one comes close to competing than the German chancellor“…

To her undeniable credit…. flaunting the European Union as a banner… she seems to be succeeding in uniting Europe…??
Or in transforming Europe into… God forbid… a German empire…??

Should Europe, particularly France… the country I love… that was occupied before by German forces three times in a century… be worried?
Well…
The facts are that Germany… is the largest economy in Europe and 4th in the world… what with their amazing discipline and work ethic… good management… loyal and hard-working politicians… with an extraordinary women chancellor leading…
With the crushed catastrophic economies of Cyprus… Greece… Spain… and to a lesser extent Italy… not to mention the disastrous political meltdown of the beleaguered French President Hollande… whose approval ratings have plummeted to the lowest ever in French modern history… France is in danger of being the next economic victim like the above mentioned countries… none of which can compete with Germany’s competitiveness and efficiency…
Europe… should remain…
Cautious… vigilant…
And yes… even worried…
Not surprising that this uncharismatic and rather stodgy woman… has been likened to the Italian Niccolo Machiavelli… who taught Madame Merkel well… how to “win and wield power”…
No… wonder…
The so-called undisputed… “Master of Europe”…
