I opted for my very black clinging dress, a discreetly plunging neckline.. showing off blonde skin.. topped with a waist-hugging fur-collared black jacket…

A provocative black hat with a sheer veil.. completed the dramatic look.

While applying the finishing touches on my “maquillage”.. (charcoal slate eye make-up, contrasting with pale ivory skin).. I was reminded of Marlene Dietrich in her Joseph von Sternberg 1932 movie, “Shanghai Express”…

Stepping under the Pyramide du Louvre-like awning… up the steps into the spacious lobby of this “Asian heritage” hotel… was a magnificent experience…

The gleaming white marble floors… glamorous stairways… ornate silver urns… not to mention the huge crystal chandeliers… all were breathtaking…

Not forgetting the two delightful bellboys… Nicholas and Aurelian…

It is the latest five-star hotel… in this prestigious “quartier”…
